Social Assistance in Ignalina district is organized by the Social Support Department of Ignalina District Municipality. One of the main working fields of this department is taking care about the families and persons having small incomes. They render a financial support within the framework of the law of the Republic of Lithuania, Government decrees, resolutions of Ignalina District Municipality Council and other laws; organizes the providing of social services. Seeking to make good decisions in social questions, Social Work and Care Council of the district helps to the Social Department. In social field there is a strong cooperation with the public organizations of the district. Friendship relations and exchange of experience are provided with the partners from foreign countries. Together with them there are implemented various small-scale projects in the district.
